Anti-hypertensive medications are specifically designed to control high blood pressure. They work by dilating blood vessels, reducing blood volume, or decreasing cardiac output. While relieving nausea and vomiting may be a side effect of some anti-hypertensive medications, it is not their primary function. Strengthening the heartbeat and promoting healing of ulcers are also not functions of these types of medications. Therefore, the main function of anti-hypertensive medications is to effectively manage high blood pressure.
